PERSONAL VISION & ACT PLANIn ninth grade we had a class called Current Life Issues, CLI for short, and it was a class to help us learn about the world around us as well as about the journey we were about to embark on from the rest of high school all the way through college and beyond. This is where I first learned what it takes to achieve my lifelong dream. You see ever since I was young, while everyone wanted to be firemen or astronauts, I wanted to be an engineer. However as I grew up I never really put much thought into what kind, until that class. That was when I realized I wanted to become a biomedical engineer, someone who was responsible for investing the machinery of tomorrow to save lives today. However it’s not just as easy as saying I want to do it. In CLI we did a project called the “Post Secondary Project” or psp for short. This project was to help us realize what we needed to do to get where we wanted in life. This is where I learned what went into becoming a biomedical engineer.
First off I have been doing a lot of extracurricular activities that reflect my interests, such as going to an engineering overnight at the engineering honors society of UC Berkeley, as well as doing well in school. Next I had to get into a good college such as UC Berkeley or Santa Cruz, or even a CSU that has a good engineering program. And then I had to get a masters in any engineering field, although biomedical engineering is preferred. After that I have to get a job which should be easier seeing as biomedical engineering is a rapidly growing field. And that is my plan for the next 20 years, or at least I thought so at the time. However, now as a senior, I realize there is more in life than just school, such as wanting to live in Southern California or wanting to move in with my significant other, Jasper, and now after all that my plan has been set. I want to go to school in so cal, live with jasper and go into biomedical.
