what did i do?
I interned with my dad, who is a tasker at Task Rabbit. Task Rabbit is a company designed to link handymen, cleaners, electricians, etc... with costumers. Most of what my internship was going along with him on jobs, doing electrical work and learning different tricks and tips as to how to do everyday handyman tasks. This was really good for me as I want to go into engineering and am in-depth knowledge of electrical work is a big help.
LOG
2/4/19:
This is the first day of my internship. It seems like this could be a lot of fun! Today I have already learned quite a lot, I even got to replace a light switch all by myself! All and all I think this is going to be a fun interns ship and these 20 hours will go by in the blink of an eye.
2/10/18:
Today was more of the same. I mostly just helped by handing Timm tools, as well as learning about how to instal ceiling lights properly. Timm has been doing a really great job of explaining everything that he is doing and making sure that I understand all of it.
2/17/18:
Today was more of an easy day. Timm and I had two jobs today, both of them an hour long. The first one was to install a few light switches, which was fun, and the second was running a wire through a wall to another room. I finally got to use my favorit tool, the snake used to run wires through walls!
2/24/18:
I have run into a slight problem. We were doing electrical work today, and it is starting to get a little repetitive. I still enjoy doing this kind of work but I don’t really get to do much because I am still just an intern. However Timm said he would test me and he will start letting me do more of the things I understand how to do well.
3/4/18:
Today was long. We had to run a coaxial cable, the kind for connecting your cable box and modem, under a house! It was really fun though because I got to put on a tyvek suit, the white one piece suits you wear for painting or other dirty jobs, and crawl under a house to run the cable. Timm said I was a great help as the crawl space would have been to narrow for him.
3/10/18:
Today was a slow day. We had two jobs today, the first was to replace a bunch of outlets, which was fun because Timm and I worked independently and so got the job done super fast, and then the second was mounting a rather large chandelier. I learned today about different types of mounting brackets for lights too. I am very happy that I am learning and that I get to have such an interactive job.
3/11/18:
Today was really long, our longest job yet! We only had one job today, however it was a long job. We had to troubleshoot why an exterior light a previous electrician had installed was no longer working. This was really interesting because I got to use tools I didn’t even know existed, like a tool that you can screw into a light and use it to find what breaker that light is on.
4/8/18:
Timm says that we have hit the slow season now, and I am happy about that. I have a lot of work to get done so it is nice to have the break for a bit. Today was more light work: outlets, switches, and hanging a few pictures. Once again I was allowed to work all by myself while Timm hung paintings.
4/14/18, 4/15/18, 4/21/18:
I combined these three logs as I forgot to do them the day of and they were all pretty much the same job just a different location. For these three dates we were mostly just doing removals, taking out electrical work that had been previously done, and disposing of it. This may sound boring, but it was actually really interesting! I learned how to cap wires and that there are blank faceplates that can be put over old outlet boxes.
4/22/18:
Today was not fun at all! I learned the importance of checking to make sure a circuit is not live before working on it, a.k.a I shocked myself! However, as much as it hurt, this was a valuable lesson. I got shocked when two wires shorted, and this was really interesting because I learned about the role of circuit breakers in the safety of your home.
4/28/18:
Today is my final day, and as bitter of a day this is I am happy to have my internship out of the day. Over all I have had a really fun time working for Timm and I have learned so much! Not only with this knowledge and experience be good in my studies, I want to go into engineering, But I also could use it to make some money in college. Today wasn’t really all that interesting other than that, just replaced a few outlets and went back home. It has been fun, Aidan Signing off.

closing report
All and all I had a really fun and educational time working for Timm. I really enjoyed being able to get hands on experience, not only in a field that I find interesting, but just work experience in general. I am really excited to be bale to go to college and use this experience, as well as for the opportunity to be able to work with Timm again at some point. Other than that , there is not much else to report.
